Pakistan Allocates 17 Billion Rupees for Stadium Renovations Ahead of ICC Champions Trophy 2025
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has set aside about 17 billion rupees to upgrade its stadiums in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi in preparation for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. This decision was made during a Board of Governors meeting on Saturday in Lahore. In addition, they approved another 240 million rupees for women’s cricket, a significant increase from the previous budget of 70 million rupees.
PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi informed the Board of Governors that the Champions Trophy will be held entirely in Pakistan. This will be discussed further at the ICC’s annual board meeting in Colombo later this month. The meeting primarily focused on approving the PCB budget for 2024-25. Pakistan is set to host Bangladesh, England, and the West Indies this season, along with a tri-series before the Champions Trophy. They will also tour Australia, South Africa, and Zimbabwe.
Naqvi told the Board of Governors that work on upgrading the stadiums had started, aiming to improve facilities for spectators and make the venues A-class stadiums.
Stadium Upgrades and Increased Support for Players
The Board of Governors approved nearly 13 billion rupees from development funds for the work on the three stadiums, plus 4.5 billion rupees for organizing the domestic season. They were also informed that the board decided to increase the central contract fees and salaries for women’s cricketers and domestic players.

“The budget has been increased because the PCB wants to improve the competition level and the structures in both domestic and women’s cricket,”
Naqvi told the Board of Governors.
