Dinesh Karthik Receives Farewell After Likely IPL Retirement
Karthik is one of the few players who has played in every IPL season since it began in 2008, playing for several top teams except for his home team, Chennai Super Kings. After the game against Rajasthan Royals, he got a warm round of applause from his RCB teammates and fans at the Narendra Modi Stadium.Throughout his IPL career, Karthik has been known for adjusting his game to fit his team’s needs. Since joining Kolkata Knight Riders in 2018, he became known as a top finisher. His great performance this season even made him a candidate for a T20 World Cup spot, although he was not ultimately selected. While neither Karthik nor RCB has officially announced his retirement, his emotional speech in the dressing room after RCB’s playoff-clinching win against CSK suggested that he might retire from the IPL soon.
