MS Dhoni’s Incredible Trophy Collection: A Journey Through His Cricket Achievements

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who turned 43 on Sunday, July 7, is one of the most successful and charismatic captains in Indian cricket history. He is the only Indian captain to have won two World Cup trophies: the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup. He is also a crucial part of the Chennai Super Kings, a team that has won five Indian Premier League titles, the joint-highest in the league’s history.

MS Dhoni in Test Cricket
In Test cricket, Dhoni led India to win the ICC Test mace in 2010 and 2011. Under his captaincy, India clinched the Border-Gavaskar Trophy three times, in 2008, 2010, and 2013. In 2009, Team India achieved a historic Test series win in New Zealand after 41 years under Dhoni’s leadership.
MS Dhoni in White Ball Cricket
Dhoni had an outstanding career in white-ball cricket, earning a spot in the ICC ODI Men’s Team of the Decade and ICC Men’s T20I Team of the Decade from 2011 to 2020. He also won the ICC Spirit of Cricket Award of the Decade in 2020. Among his many achievements, Dhoni led India to victory in the Commonwealth Bank Series in 2008, featuring hosts Australia and Sri Lanka. He was also part of the team that won a Test series in England in 2007. In franchise cricket, Dhoni’s success continued with the Chennai Super Kings.
Under Dhoni’s captaincy, the Chennai Super Kings reached the Indian T20 League finals 10 times and won the title five times in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, and 2023. Dhoni also led Chennai to win two Champions League T20 titles in 2010 and 2014.

Between 2004 and 2019, Dhoni scored 17,266 runs in 538 matches for the Indian cricket team, with an average of 44.76. He scored 16 centuries and 108 fifties in his international career. Dhoni won the ICC ODI Player of the Year award in 2008 and 2009. He was part of the ICC World ODI XI in 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014, and was selected as captain in 2009 and from 2011 to 2014.
