Next India vs. Pakistan Showdown Likely in Lahore for Champions Trophy 2025

Champions Trophy 2025

After India and Pakistan played an exciting cricket match in New York on Sunday, they are set to meet again soon. Their next big game is expected in eight months during the Champions Trophy in March 2025, unless they play each other in the knockout rounds of the T20 World Cup happening in the Caribbean later this month.

Proposed Schedule for Champions Trophy 2025

The draft schedule for the 2025 Champions Trophy has been shared with the International Cricket Council (ICC). According to the plan, the India vs. Pakistan match will be the last game of the group stage. The tournament will run from February 19 to March 9 featuring 15 matches among eight teams. Exact dates for all matches are still being decided.

Lahore to Host the India-Pakistan Game!

Lahore is the proposed venue for the India-Pakistan match, but this needs approval from the Government of India to allow their team to play in Pakistan. If the approval isn’t given, the matches might follow a hybrid model like last year’s Asia Cup, where the UAE hosted India’s games. Despite this uncertainty, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is moving forward with preparations.

Venue Details

For the 20-day competition, the PCB has chosen Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi as the host cities:

  • Lahore will host seven matches, including all India games and the final.
  • Karachi will have five matches and the opening game on Wednesday, February 19.
  • Rawalpindi will host three matches, with one of the semi-finals taking place here.

The final is set for Sunday, March 9, in Lahore. Lahore will also host India’s semi-final match if they make it that far.

Waiting for Final Decision

Currently, neither the PCB nor the ICC is planning for a hybrid model, but changes can happen at the last minute. The focus is now on the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Government of India for their final decision.
