The Punjab Kings have suffered a setback with the news that fast bowler Kagiso Rabada will miss their last match of the IPL season. Rabada has returned to South Africa due to a lower limb soft tissue infection. The pace spearhead left the IPL on Sunday evening and has already consulted with a specialist. Cricket South Africa’s medical team is closely monitoring his condition.

Despite missing the Kings’ final matches, there is good news for South African cricket fans. Rabada’s participation in the upcoming T20 World Cup is not expected to be affected. Rabada had taken 11 wickets in 11 matches for the Punjab Kings this season but was unable to help his team in their push for a playoff spot.

Punjab Kings have already suffered the most as their English players have returned to the country due to national duty. These players include captain Sam Curran, Liam Livingstone, Jonny Bairstow and Chris Woakes. England is scheduled to play a T20I series of 4 matches against Pakistan starting on the 22nd of May. Shikhar Dhawan will also not appear in the last game due to injury, as we have seen in past matches.

In the last IPL match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings will miss these players the most, making it somewhat of a walkover for the Orange Army scheduled to play on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at 3:30 at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad
